Haptic Interfaces
- The Haptic Interface Project began in 1991 at the University of Colorado with the design and development of a high-fidelity haptic interface. This interface provides 5 or 6 degrees of freedom, large range of motion, and accurate specification of forces applied to the user's fingers through a stylus. Through support from the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research, the haptic interface has been augmented with a graphics capability to provide an integrated visual/haptic interface facility. This facility is currently being used to conduct research in human-computer interfaces, scientific visualization, and human haptic perception.
